Our Results

Round One vs. Kirpal the Autonomous Rickshaw:
We swept across the center platform but failed to knock the first ball completely off. Meanwhile, Kirpal stole one of the balls on our side. The two balls which dropped down went successfully to our side; Kirpal remained stagnant for the rest of the match. Even with a sweep at the end, we never managed to knock the first ball completely off the platform.
Result: 3-3 double win

Round Two vs. MSPlacebo 2.0:
Our robot performed admirably, getting the center ball and the two that fell just as intended. The Microsoft placebo apparently crashed (surprise, surprise), tipping itself over without any help from us.
Result: 5-2 win

Round Three vs. Kamikaze
Our bot deployed and won the first ball; Kamikaze apparently misaligned and started spasming back and forth on the opposite side. However, our arm swung too far initially, so the wheel fell off the platform. Thus, our robot could not return to a centered position to claim the two falling balls. One of these fell and, in a lucky bounce, deflected off the other bot onto its side; the other remained neutral.
Result: 3-3 double win

Round Four vs. Man at Arms:
The other robot had an intriguing strategy somewhat similar to ours. It had an extending arm that came down and placed a ramp over the top of the center ball, using the ball itself for bracing when the other two balls fell. They enveloped the center ball first, but our powered arm pushed them off-center. Thus, the two falling balls deflected off our ramp instead of theirs. The original center ball remained in the neutral zone at the end.
Result: 4-2 win

Round Five vs. The Dude
The Dude had a car that drove onto the center platform. They initially deployed slightly off-center just as we deployed, pinning the center ball between our two robots. Our arm pushed forward, knocking The Dude partially off the platform. However, the part of The Dude remaining on the platform served to keep the balls which deflected off our ramp from going to our side. Even our push at the end was not strong enough to push three balls and most of a robot, even far enough for one of the balls to fall off the platform...
Result: 2-2 in probably the most entertaining double loss of the competition

Round Six vs. DP:
This match SUCKED. Our machine never got out of its calibration routine, so it did not move or transmit IR for the match. DP stole one ball and tried to steal another, but we were blocking its escape path. Had our bot started, the score would likely have been 4-3 in a win for us.
Result: 1-3 loss

Overall, our robot fared quite well in competition. Our original goal was to make it to Round Three, but we actually put in a good showing, tying for eighth place out of 60 teams.
